St Faith’s Secures Special Royal Appointment

What a fabulous day! Several of our pupils were privileged to meet HRH Prince Michael of Kent and celebrate the 85th Anniversary of Operation Dynamo in Ramsgate.

St Faith’s pupils were invited to attend the 85th Memorial Parade in Ramsgate, where they were presented to HRH Prince Michael of Kent, by his Equerry in a very exciting day of celebrations. The Parade commemorated the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940, with performances by the Royal Marine Band, a fly past by a rare Swordfish Bi-Plane as well as aerial displays by Royal Navy helicopters and a Spitfire, which the children were privileged to watch with dignitaries on the viewing platform. Centred at Ramsgate Pier, Prince Michael of Kent unveiled the Operation Dynamo Plaque, dedicated a bell from the Crested Eagle ship and met skippers from the little ships which then began their memorial journey to Dunkirk. Our lucky pupils were honoured to be involved so closely in these special celebrations and will remember this experience forever.
