Accelerated Academics & Kent Test Outcomes

How we support our pupils as they approach the Kent Test

St Faith’s Prep pupils have achieved over 90%+ success rate at the Kent Test for the past five years.

The consistency of our pupils’ success is the result of a carefully developed academic programme that tailors learning to each child, instilling confidence and competence in the core curriculum from the earliest years. We also offer a focused academic programme for those children higher up the school. All balanced with a rich and fulfilling school experience, with Sport, Music and Art, plus a co-curriculum that opens doors and new experiences.

Leading our team is Helen Coombs, Head of St Faith’s Prep and resident 11+ expert. With over 30 years at the heart of the school, Mrs Coombs brings a depth of experience and insight that underpins our consistent success. She works closely with pupils, staff and families supporting them in understanding the process and ensuring every child transitions smoothly on their continued learning journey.

So, what is the St Faith’s difference?

The consistency of our 11+ results over the past five years demonstrates the huge difference a strong educational foundation makes to a child’s development.  Year after year, our carefully tailored curriculum, our experienced subject expert staff, our real enthusiasm and love of education leads to fantastic outcomes for our pupils. A huge amount of hard work goes into ensuring that every child leaves St Faith’s a confident young learner, head held high, wherever their destination.

Getting the basics right

We achieve great things in the classroom by building a strong academic foundation of phonics and Maths in Early Years, and by continuing to encourage and support both throughout the pre-prep school. Confident reading skills are key to comprehension and give children ownership of this very important element of their learning.

Tailoring the education to the individual

Next is our determination to provide a bespoke education for every child at St Faith’s, with an emphasis on improving areas of weakness and developing strengths in Focus Groups and nurturing academic successes. With maximum class sizes of 18 for core subjects, we are able to adapt teaching to individual stages of development. Our unique Digital Strategy from Year 4 to Year 6 helps to speed up and support the learning process and enhances knowledge, engagement and study skills.

Support and encouragement from the best teachers

St Faith’s greatest school resource is our extremely loyal and experienced team of teachers, who care for the children, and know how to prepare them for the academic challenges ahead. Knowing their pupils individually means that staff can ensure each child has the opportunity to reach their potential.  Subject specialists inject enthusiasm into their lessons, passing on a lifelong love of learning.

Making it fun!

Children respond well to encouragement and stimulation, but not to pressure. Keeping a broad and healthy approach and balancing out the core curriculum with lots of fun and exciting opportunities, is critical to the positive outlook of our pupils. A good balance of music and sport helps the children grow in confidence, our beautiful wildlife garden is a source of curiosity and connection with the wider world, while the hotly contested games of table tennis and numerous ways our children are supported to make friends, value kindness and support each other, combine to create an environment where children are happy.
