Welcome to Early Years
Early years at St Faith’s starts in Sandcastles Nursery, and continues through into Reception at the main school. Packed with cheerfulness, reassurance, play, friends, support and imagination, these years are vital in your child’s education. We aim to create an environment that is fun, secure and stimulating, ensuring that the beginning of your child’s education is a happy and fulfilling experience.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) precedes Key Stage One and is shaped through seven aspects that are interlinked. It is designed to ensure that all children are kept healthy and safe whilst at the same time developing social and emotional wellbeing alongside the knowledge and skills that create a firm foundation on which to foster a love of learning, an inquisitive mind and a sense of self-worth. This is reflected in the school’s motto of ‘I Can and I Will.’
Your child’s early years are such a special time and those of us privileged to work with 2-5 year olds see how the world opens up before them as they explore through purposeful play; where they are encouraged to discover, question and enjoy their learning. Our days are always filled with exciting adventures such as outdoor Welly Walks to investigate the changing seasons, excavation of dinosaurs to develop our skills as young scientists and creating symmetrical pizzas to learn more about Mathematical concepts. Every day is unique, just like your child, which is why we place importance on providing a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and shine.
The children and staff are always eager to share their experiences so please come and visit us at work or in play. We look forward to welcoming you and your child.
