Speech Competition

Our talented children never cease to amaze me and this year’s Speech Competition has been no exception. Highlights for me have been the high levels of knowledge exhibited by the children with their topics, audience engagement and humour. Every child, without exception displayed a passion about their topic as well as a keen interest. Individuals honed their public speaking skills enthusiastically about a wide range of topics from, What’s inside my tummy, I can and I will, After School Clubs, My violin, My Brother to ADHD, The Ocean and Chocolate. They were judged on clarity, voice strength, pace/fluidity, entertainment value and content with the judges also looking for humour and passion about the topics. With every child involved in the school, the standard of the finalists was outstanding with very little daylight separating the contestants. As Cleo said in her closing speech, “The standard was so high each parent ought to reward their child handsomely when they got home”.
