Year 5 Throw Themselves Into Activities (And A Swamp)

Mr Mackenzie’s Blog:

Today has truly been a day of two halves. The first was a scene of pure tranquillity as the children scuttled about building their dens, laughing and chatting amongst themselves, bathed in the early morning sunshine. We even found time for a quick walk and a few classic games! Pure bliss.

The latter half of the day can only be described as utterly swampy chaos! The children have thrown themselves (quite literally) headfirst into every activity so far, and this afternoon’s trip to the infamous Carroty Wood low ropes proved to be no exception. In all my years of running these trips, I have never known so many children to enter the murky depths of the Carroty Swamp. Parents – I can only apologise for the state of the clothes heading back your way! We did our very best to hose off the worst of the mud, I promise!

This evening, the children have devoured another delicious meal of roast chicken and apple pie, followed by some downtime before before our evening swim. After a very uneven contest last night, Mr Burrett and I have been forced to introduce a few ground rules in order to give us half a chance at surviving the hour! If we escape, we shall update you again tomorrow, after (hopefully) another peaceful night’s sleep.
