Football…a new generation

Year 2 Football

Another generation has started!

Towards the end of last term in the beautiful sunshine and on the 5th anniversary of St Faith’s Prep School winning the ISA National Football Tournament for the U11s,  the Year 2 footballers were invited to play a game of football with Cartwright and Kelsey Primary School in Ash. The match caused great excitement in its build up and to top it all on Monday the team had a very special training session with Mrs Latham (our ISA winning coach) to prepare them for the Ash derby! Brayden, who is an upcoming star of PACE Development said, ”Cor Mrs Latham you even sound different when you are coaching…I like it!”

Off the team set with Mr Groves leading the way. The team certainly looked smart in their kit, smiling all the way to the school. The hosts were very friendly and it was lovely to see our stars of the future passing the ball and defending well. Luna and Emily stopped quite a few goals by being rock solid in defence and Kit saved a goal in the last minute of the match. Javier and Brayden were brilliant at the front and Myles and Luca stopped the ball from making progress up to the goal area. Joseph tried his heart out in goal and Aiden defended the ball with some lovely footwork. The score ended up a draw at 4 all, although our players had more chances to win, it’s just that the goal posts were either too short or too narrow! A big shout out to the parents who came to support the team. Well done everybody. A lovely afternoon was had by all.
