Carroty Wood Year 4 -Day 1

Day 1: 6 March

1.15pm

Travel sick free and very excited Year 4 children arrived at Carroty Wood for their packed lunch before they started their first activity. Spirits were high as they entered the low ropes in the woods and soon every individual was wet, muddy and full of smiles, a great start to the trip. “I’m loving it”, said a muddy Maddie!

2.30pm

The children have all been hosed down and are now drying off in their en suite rooms. Everyone is happy with their new roommates and we are all excited about the impending Bush craft, den making and tracking in the woods before supper. The table-tennis table has been erected and we are all looking forward towards a really exciting evening of indoor swimming and ping-pong.

6pm

What a fabulous first day we have had! The low ropes were obviously a massive highlight of the day. Since we last updated we have had an excellent hack through the woods and learnt about how to build dens ahead of tomorrow’s activities. The children are now ready for their dinner with the promise of swimming afterwards.

The first room check revelled some very impressive unpacking – thank you to all the parents for ensuring their children had everything they needed. At last count the staff bed making tally had Miss Arman in the lead despite Mr Andrews claiming he made 500 duvet covers up. Next Friday’s celebration assembly may need to be extended, such has been the children’s form on the table tennis table. At last count our illustrious headmaster has given away 7 golden balls. The Carroty table does seem to favour the children! We are having some much needed down time with cards, books and board games.
