A delightful cacophony of music

What a wonderful Summer Concert we were treated to this week! The Choir performed two ambitious Andrew Lloyd Webber numbers and the Orchestra played an arrangement of ‘Mars’ from Holst’s Planets Suite. There can’t be many primary school orchestras around the country who perform music of such complexity!

Also appearing were our fantastic String Orchestra and talented Chamber Choir, performing music from ‘A Sound of Music’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ respectively. Thanks to Mrs Woodhead for coaching both of these groups.

We were lucky to have the chance to perform in St Nicholas Church, Ash, where the acoustics enhanced the quality of the performances.

Last, but not least, were the children who played solos. Whether singing or playing the drums, saxophone, cornet, piano or violin, there were some superb performances. All children spoke to introduce their piece and also remembered to bow at the end! Lots of pressure on such young shoulders, but they all took it in their stride.

For our leaving Year 6 children, they will hopefully join orchestras and choirs at their new schools. The skills they’ve learnt at St Faith’s will be invaluable for them in the future.
