Geography and History
Geography and History lessons at St Faith’s stimulate the children’s interest and understanding about the world and its people, both now and in the past. As a result of their studies, children begin to develop an interest in other countries, societies and cultures. High-quality lessons create a love of learning in humanities that will stay with our pupils throughout their lives.
Geography lessons help children develop their knowledge and understanding of the natural and human world in which they live, thought geographical enquiry, investigation, problem solving and decision making. They are encouraged to broaden their awareness of their own local environment, their understanding of the affect an environment has on people’s lives and the wider need for conservation both locally and globally.
In Lower School History lessons, pupils develop an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases relating to the passing of time to learn about changes within and beyond living memory. In the Upper School, pupils continue to develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history.
