Inspector Clouseau visits on World Book Day

St Faith’s welcomed a huge array of famous characters into school last Thursday when we celebrated World Book Day!

The day began with an assembly led by our Library prefects who explained their role and shared some of their favourite stories. This also gave us the opportunity to admire the many, varied costumes that had been so carefully prepared by the pupils not to mention the staff!

The staff were replaced by Cruella De Vil, cruel stepsisters, Fairy Godmothers and a few witches, a Cat in the Hat and an enthusiastic Inspector Clouseau.    Our pupils on the other hand included Spiderman, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, Cinderella, Mildred Hubble and many, many more.

Activities included bringing a text to life in the Drama 4 All workshops. Every child in school from Nursery to Year 6 participated.  Additionally, our very own Mr Clark delivered illustration workshops to some year groups helping pupils bring stories to life in pictures.

So many different creative writing, storytelling and reading activities were shared even the transformation of some classrooms into Book Nooks where the pupils crawled in with torches to share their favourite stories amongst comfy cushions and blankets.

All pupils received a book token which can be redeemed against a book purchase in local bookshops.

Happy book sharing!
