Twilight Concerts Tuesday 19 June

It was time for polished performances, recorders at the ready and super singing at this week’s two Twilight Concerts.

The Lower School Concert was packed with the talent of the youngest children in our school – even those from Sandcastles Nursery! The children have been working at recorder pieces and songs with our Head of Music, Mr Ainsworth, during their weekly lessons and clubs, and the concert gave them a chance to show off their talents. There were big smiles (no bigger than Honor’s!) and super bows from the soloists, some of whom were debut performers!

Hopefully the children of Early Years and Lower School will go on to perform in an Upper School Concert in a few years’ time! In this second concert of the day, the older children were asked to verbally introduce their pieces. They are taught that their performance is not just about playing the notes, but about how they bow and speak as well. The Wind Orchestra, ably conducted by Jo Woodhead, performed very well, as did the children of the Recorder Club.

We look forward to future performances, particularly next week’s Summer Concert. The departing Year 6 children will have many fond memories of performing at St Faith’s!
