Is this a dagger I see before me?
Well we avoided actual weapons but the acting was good enough for you to believe the children were fully armed when Year 6 rose to their latest challenge and collaborated brilliantly to create versions of Macbeth in only 60 seconds. The ‘Scottish Play’ is the second of Shakespeare’s tragedies that has been studied by our excited older pupils this term. Having mastered the intricate plot of Romeo and Juliet two weeks ago, the pupils all wrote extra scenes for the play, some of them even choosing to use Shakespearean language in their scripts. The whole topic has been a fantastic introduction to the work of England’s greatest playwright and will stand our young people in good stead for more detailed study at their secondary schools. So ‘What’s done is done’ and very expertly too!
