Year 4 Carroty Wood

Blog 1: Monday 21 March 2022

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”
-from Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

After a year’s hiatus the St Faith’s Purple and Gold Year 4 army set off on a three- day residential to our home away from homes, Carroty Wood. The Year 4s were in fine voice as our coach choir treated the Gilles Coach Driver (Insert Gilles jingle ‘Here to get you there’) to a rendition of ‘I’m going to take my horse to Carroty Wood…’ as we left Ash. Already the trip is shaping up to be one for the ages. The channel was like a mill pond as we swept around the White Cliffs, the children now merrily chatting away about the adventure ahead. It took until Ashford for the first “are we nearly there yet” a staple question for any school trip. After a couple more “are we nearly yet?” but thankfully no more “is that Carroty Wood?” we arrived. After a picnic lunch we had a quick explore of our surroundings. As you leave us we are just about find out our rooms and settle into the lodge. Join us later for an update from our first activity The Low Ropes!
