With the easing of Covid restrictions I wholeheartedly look forward to welcoming you all back this week to what I hope will be a very safe and exciting new academic year.
With the classes deep cleaned, the pitches mown and marked out for sport and the pathways cut out for adventure in the Nature Garden, we are more than prepared for the return of the purple and gold army. The staff are well prepared and have spent two days training in the new PHSE Scheme JIGSAW, Safeguarding, Risk Assessment, Fire Safety as well as preparing their classrooms for a year of wonderment and challenge.
Never before have I sensed the eagerness, anticipation and delight at the prospect of a new year from the staff. If the first two weeks is anything to go by with the Kent Test, Parent Introductory Evenings, Early Years Sports Day, matches and a STEAM Day based on re-greening the desert, it’s going to be a very busy and exciting year. Having had a lull in normal school life for 18 months we will be concentrating on building the children’s resilience, sense of responsibility and community, competitive spirit and sportsmanship as well as having an awareness of those around them and ability to collaborate.
Lastly, may I wish the new Year 6 cohort good luck with their leadership skills and have every confidence that they will be excellent role models to the younger children. With all bearing a responsibility role they have an interesting and stimulating 12 months ahead of them, taking charge of their own aspects and working together to make us the school of high repute in the area that we are.
