Welcome back to Sport

Firstly, I would like to introduce our new Sports Prefects for the year, as pictured.  Both have excellent all-round ability across many different sports, they set a great example during lessons and are always looking to help others. I have no doubt they will be excellent role models for all the children during this academic year.

This term Sport kicked off with the start of the St Faith’s Cup in Upper School. A competition that was born during lockdown as a way of still having some competition in sport lessons. However, as fixtures against other schools will be returning soon, it is a shortened version to get the children back into their competitive spirit.

Upper School children went straight into action last week and separated into their teams ready for the competition to begin. The boys played in Basketball and Football matches and the girls played Hockey and Football.  With 3 points on offer for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for a loss, every point gained contributed towards the teams’ grand total: After week one, the St Faith’s Strikers were in the lead on 36 points with the St Faith’s Falcons a close second on 31 points. Notable leadership skills were on display and it was encouraging to see good collaboration in selection of the teams to play in each match. The second week began in glorious sunshine. With regular water breaks, the children were still keen to try their best to earn the points for their team. At the end of the competition, the St Faith’s Strikers managed to hold onto their lead and take victory!  Well done to everyone for showing such enthusiasm, teamwork and a never give up attitude.
