U11 Mixed Basketball Tournament at Goodwin Academy

This was a tournament with a difference where a group of children from Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to compete. This time it was Basketball. Last year the children were runners up in the event and had a super time trying and competing in a sport that is unusual to them. This year, the children were equally excited to play and started the event like they had been playing basketball all their lives. Their first match was against Whitecliffs Primary and we were dominant throughout, winning 11-0. They then played against Whitfield Primary and once again won comfortably. Next, was the group deciding match against last year’s winners Charlton Primary. In a tense and hard fought match the final score was a 7-7 draw, a good result for both schools as they both qualified for the semi-finals. In the semi-final they were up against Capel Primary. The opposition had a flying start as they scored a couple of shots from very long range. St Faith’s were coming back into the match towards the end but not quite enough and lost 10-7. Good effort, attitude and behaviour was demonstrated by all involved. Well done!

U11AB Boys Football vs Spring Grove

For the last Football matches of 2018 the boys travelled to Spring Grove to play in wet and windy conditions. The 1st team were given the opportunity to play in some different positions but demonstrated their adaptability by still drawing 2-2. The Development team had a match that can only be described as a tale of two halves. The boys were 3-0 down at half-time but completely turned the match around in the second half to win 3-5. Players of the match went to Eliot T and Charlie W. Well played boys!

U9AB Girls Hockey vs St Lawrence College

Despite the excitement of a power-cut at school in the morning the girls were very much looking forward to their sport as they travelled to St Lawrence College to play their final match of the year. On a very large pitch the girls had to do plenty of running but they put in a tremendous effort. Both matches were extremely close and excellent to watch. The 1st team drew 2-2 and the Development team won 2-3. Players of the match went to Maisie B and Jasmine McGuirk. Well played girls!!

All the fixtures have now finished this year but we look forward to further Football, Netball and Hockey matches in the new year.
