The Debate Club

Computer games, mobile phones, role models, school uniform, zoos and… Jaffa Cakes (It is a cake and definitely NOT a biscuit! I’m glad we could clear that one up!).

The Debate Club have discussed all of these issues, and more, in their Monday sessions and have impressed Mr Andrews with their mature attitudes. It is quite a task for primary aged children to take part in debates and the participants all deserve a special mention for their achievements: congratulations Bee, Rosie, Molly, Tom, Bertie, Felix, Oliver and Oscar!

Our final debate revolved around the use of mobile phones in school by children. The ‘For’ and the ‘Against’ teams set out their arguments brilliantly and the rebuttal between the teams was fast and furious. Both sides made valid reasons but in the end it was decided by the panel of judges that ‘Against’ made the most compelling points and that mobile phones are not needed in school for primary aged children. Well done Team Debate we look forward to seeing more from you next academic year!
