Sports Days & Sunshine
What a week! Last week saw both the Nursery and the School hold their annual Sports Days, with the Nursery up first on a sunny Saturday morning.
With the white lines freshly painted and the gazebos up on the field, the school gates were thrown open as we welcomed our Nursery parents and children to our Nursery Sports Morning. With perfect weather conditions (warm but not too hot, and not a drop of rain in sight), Mr Groves donned the official Sports Day jacket and panama hat and was let loose on the microphone.
For many of the children, this was their first ever sports day, and they really stepped up to the challenge! In front of an adoring crown of parents, siblings and grandparents, and supported by their teachers and classmates, our youngest children enjoyed every moment of taking part in a selection of fun races.
Not to be left out, the parents stepped up en masse to take part in the Parents’ Race, before we wrapped up sports morning with the obligatory ice-cold rocket lolly!
Wednesday saw the main school step up to the starting line, with the Lower School in the morning and then the Upper School in the afternoon. There were some very competitive races mixed in with some enjoyable events to give everyone the opportunity to participate and enjoy the afternoon. The children are always supportive and encouraging of each other, and sometimes the loudest cheer is reserved for the last child to cross the line! The year 6 obstacle race completed the afternoon with the teachers (plus a few parents) getting their revenge with the help of some water bombs and water pistols.
The final results will be revealed on Speech Day, but no matter the result, every child can be proud of the contributions they made to their house on the day.
