U9 Girls Hockey v Northbourne Park
The weather just about held for the girls who travelled to Northbourne Park School to play their next match of the year. Playing on grass was a new experience for many, however they soon realised that they had to hit the ball much harder than on a hard surface. The match was a battle with both teams trying to get the ball to the opposite end of the pitch. The girls improved dramatically during the match with their spacial awareness and they deservedly won 1-0. Player of the match went to Hermione Porter. Well done girls!
U9 Boys Football v Northbourne Park
The boys have been excellent so far this season and once again played really well. They were in complete control throughout the game and this gave Mr Andrews the opportunity to try children in different positions. They finally won 6-0 with a hat-trick from Oliver T. Player of the match went to Jamie M. Well done boys!
Thursday 17 October 2019
On Thursday children from Year 3 and 4 competed in the U9 House football competition. House captains from year 6 were in charge of their teams and put their leadership skills to the test. Our sports captains Genevieve J and Eliot T were also given the role as referees for the event to help them develop their officiating skills. The afternoon was full of team spirit and excellent sportsmanship. Sycamore won the event to increase their lead in the house sport trophy standings. Well done to everyone involved for a fantastic and enjoyable event.
McCarthy Cup Final – Boys Football
The boys gave their all on a very competitive afternoon of Football. They lost their first game and drew their second which meant they needed to win their last game against Temple Ewell Primary by 2 goals or more. They put in a great performance to win 1-0, unfortunately this wasn’t quite enough as they missed out on the semi-finals on goal difference to finish third in their group. Great effort boys!
After half-term the fixtures continue to come thick and fast. The U11 boys host Spring Grove for their next round of football matches. The U11 girls travel to play hockey matches against Spring Grove and Lorenden. Finally, girls and boys are in action in the Dover and Deal Football league with a match against Sibertswold Primary School. Good luck to all involved.
