U11AB Boys Football v Deal Parochial

The girls hosted Deal Parochial Primary School for the first round of the Hammond Cup. The girls did really well to come runners up in the McCarthy Cup a couple of weeks back and now wanted to have a good run in their next competition. However, they were up against a good team so had to perform if they wanted to move through to the next stage. They played with real determination and teamwork, and won 3-0. The Development Team also had an opportunity to play and despite the cold conditions were full of energy and enthusiasm. In a very exciting contest that had all the crowd engrossed, the final score was 0-0. Players of the match went to Julie Oprchal and Jeea Hothi. Well played girls!

U9AB Girls Football v Spring Grove – Home

On a sunny Thursday afternoon, the girls had a rare opportunity to play in U9 Football matches against Spring Grove School. They were all super excited to play and the amount of effort put in by all the girls was fantastic. The 1st Team were perhaps guilty of being a little too nice and not tackling to win the ball back like they can. As a result, Spring Grove scored a few goals but the girls finished strongly to make the final score 1-4. The Development Team also had a really good match with chances at both ends. However, this time the girls came out on top winning 3-0. Players of the match went to Penny Ford and Evelina Salvatori. Mr Andrews and Mrs Mellin were also keen to highlight Safiya Van Ritbergen who volunteered to join the other team to make the teams even for their match. Well done everyone!

Next week, the U11 Football teams have league matches against Wingham and Cartwright and Kelsey Primary. The girls also host Spring Grove for yet more Football matches. The U9 boys are also back in action as they host Junior King’s Canterbury. Good luck to all involved.
