This week saw two wonderful Twilight Concerts, with over fifty children performing. From Evelina and Oliver playing pieces of Grade 3 and 4 standard, to Brayden and Dorothy giving their first performances on the piano after only a handful of lessons, everyone did their best in front of a very appreciative audience.
There were lovely singing solos from Sail, Zara, Austin and Arabella along with piano, brass, string and woodwind solos. Together with the soloists, our String Orchestra performed ‘Westminster Abbey’ and all three Recorder Clubs performed as well. The Year 3,4,5 & 6 group comprised fifteen children, the largest it has ever been! All children spoke clearly, remembered to bow (with the pianists even holding the piano!) and there were several children performing for the very first time.
The week finished with a lovely Harvest Festival Service in our village church of St Nicholas. The Chamber Choir sang during the opening hymn, ‘Now we sing a Harvest Song’, performing a verse on their own together with a lovely descant at the end. Later in the service, Year 2 sang a song on their own and the Year 3,4,5 & 6 Recorders accompanied ‘I can see cherries’. Finally, well done to Cleo and Daisy for performing during Friday assembly. There will be many more children performing next week in Class Performances. Good luck to everyone hoping to perform!
