MUSIC at St Faith’s Rocks.

Despite the Year 6 children being otherwise engaged last Thursday with their Kent Test, Orchestras still went ahead. The Wind Orchestra and Orchestra combined, as the children learnt about starting and stopping when indicated and began work on a piece called ‘Down by the Riverside’. The String Orchestra also started rehearsing last week – and will meet on Monday afternoons.

Due to the large number of talented instrumentalists at St Faith’s, we are able to run three orchestras every week! It was also a busy week for children in Years 5 and 6 who are hoping to gain a place in the Chamber Choir this year and, at the end of last Friday’s assembly, the children were told whether they had been successful. We have some exciting performances planned, not least another invitation to perform at the St Edmund’s Gala Concert in Canterbury Cathedral in March next year. Pictured are some of the children in Year 2 having their weekly music lesson. As usual, Year 2 are leading our Harvest Festival service next month and they are learning a song which they will perform at church. They have also been learning some new notes on the recorder.
