Kent Maths Challenge

Last Friday, eight of our able mathematicians travelled to Sir Roger Manwood’s School to take part in the Kent Maths Challenge along with 17 other teams from local schools. Split into two teams, they faced six complex challenges ranging from construction of parallelograms to a maths crossword which would have perplexed even the most confident problem solvers. With strict time constraints, both groups demonstrated excellent collaboration, initiative and resilience. After an hour of hard work all challenges were taken in for marking. An anxious wait followed. St Faith’s team X achieved 5th place and Team π achieved 1st place and as such received a scientific calculator, certificate and shield to be displayed at school. On their return the children couldn’t wait to share their great achievement with Mr MacKenzie, who was absolutely delighted!

We are very proud of all eight students who represented our school so brilliantly.
