Fab Friday Art

Our Fab Friday activities session have brought about a new creative opportunity for some of St Faith’s most Gifted and Talented artists in Year 6. Joining our Head of Art, Mrs Bowyer, in our dedicated STEAM room the children are being tasked with projects that will expand and develop their artistic skills even further. The work produced will help to build a varied art portfolio that is ‘scholarship ready’ should the children go down this route, or simply act as a record of their artistic progress that they made here at St Faith’s. This term they have already used charcoal and chalk to draw and add tone to a vase, with stunning 3D results. Currently they are exploring the work of Hannah Hoch, a German surrealist artist, to develop their own surreal collaged landscapes.

Open Day, this Saturday, allows us as a school to all work together to produce a collaborative piece that will celebrate the life of our late Queen Elizabeth II. Taking inspiration from the work of Brazilian contemporary artist Romero Britto, the children will be using bright bold colours and patterns to decorate a portrait in his style. When finished these images will be put together in as one and be displayed on the back wall of the Kerruish Hall. Look out for it soon in our Celebration Assembly!
