Creativity through musical expression

Lower nursery children enjoyed an exciting and captivating musical lesson with our head of Music, Mr Ainsworth. During the session the children had the opportunity to have a go at playing a trumpet and a French horn! We also sang some familiar songs such as head, shoulders, knees and toes to encourage and develop the children’s ability to follow instructions.

Within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), it is important to support children’s creativity through musical expression. Therefore, at Sandcastles nursery, we introduce children to a wide range of music from the moment they join our setting. Children are encouraged to join in with our daily circle time sing-a-longs to support language development and self-expression. We often hear our children independently singing happily to themselves whilst playing with their peers, and also love to hear parents talking about the wonderful songs they sing at home! Mr Ainsworth also offers musical Tiny-Toots sessions for children both in and outside of Sandcastles Nursery on Fridays at 10 am.
