A Forest School session for Nursery

Taking advantage of the lovely dry weather we have experienced over the last couple of days, our children in nursery put on their wellies to visit the nature garden. Oh what a lovely time they had!

Mrs Pricilla Smith, who is both experienced and qualified in teaching children the importance of our environment offered the children activities which allowed them to work both together and independently.  They enjoyed learning new skills such as den building, planting and growing and even toasting marshmallows on a real camp fire.  Their session was based on the familiar story ‘The Gruffalo‘, and great fun was had as they searched high and low for the characters that were hidden in the willow arch, the bug hotel, and even in the log pile. They made Gruffalo soup and Paul from the kitchen made us all bug cakes for a scrumptious snack . We certainly had many tired children at the end of the two days and would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to Mrs Smith for offering them this invaluable experience.
