A cross curricular adventure for Year 2

This term, Year 2 have embarked on a cross curricular adventure combining History and Geography, charting the intrepid travels of the iconic Amy Johnson. A pioneering English pilot, Amy Johnson was the first woman to fly solo from London to Australia.  Year 2 have learned about the continents and oceans of our world in their Geography lessons and will be plotting Amy Johnson’s journey, looking at the countries she travelled over and the oceans she would have crossed. To kick start our learning, we have been researching Amy’s place of birth, Hull. The children used the iPads to find out more about the city and record their findings in their books. We have looked at population, average climate and interesting facts. Not only is Hull Yorkshire’s only waterfront city, it is also where the boiled sweet was invented!
