Year 4 & 5 Carroty Wood

A great education will broaden a child’s horizon far beyond the classroom walls.  The outstanding beauty of Carroty Wood, located just outside of Tonbridge, has become the home-away-from-home for our brave Year 4 and 5 pupils. This is where team-building, resilience, care and awareness of others begins.

Day 2: Blog 6

Wow! What an amazing talent show! Our Year 4s have surpassed themselves with their efforts. There were good vibes only in the room as they danced, sang and joked the spellbound audience into fits of laughter.

We are now packed up, washed and enjoying our final evening with a film. Some children have scuttled off to bed early/later than they would have gone to bed at home. We are predicting a much quieter front out on patrol tonight! Excitingly, it looks like the rain is leaving us and we can’t wait to get out about den building tomorrow morning.

Mr Groves thoroughly enjoyed his visit, although he left with a tear in his eye. Not because he was leaving the children but because he left having lost 8, yes you heard me right, 8 golden balls! We are looking forward to a bumper celebration assembly next week. At one point it seemed even Mrs Hunt might beat him, luckily our golden gem managed to find some divine intervention to rescue his blushes! It is rumoured he was seen hurling his CD of ‘We are the champions’ out of his window of this car as he left.

The children have been brilliant today and I hope you are all proud of the polite, kind and ever resilient children that you have raised! See you tomorrow!

Day 3 Friday morning: – Blog 7

Disaster struck Hornbeam House this morning! The worst thing you could ever imagine… during pack-up one of our intrepid explorers lost their favourite teddy! A frantic search party was launched to find ‘Boo Boo’. Reports were coming in thick and fast about his last sighting. ‘Boo Boo was having a bath’, ‘Boo Boo went to dance in the rain’, ‘I saw Boo Boo eating 5 sausages’ and finally ‘I saw Boo Boo in the window of Mr Groves’ car!’. All these reports were of course fake news.  After Mr Andrews has moved every item of furniture out of the room in question Mrs Mellin spotted him… hiding under his owner’s mattress. The mystery of the lost Boo Boo was solved!

This morning the sun has finally come out and we are out exploring the woods. The children are currently den building and having a whale of a time! Finally, the children are able to release their inner Bear Grills!
