Carroty Wood 2020: Day 2

Tuesday 12 February: Day 2 – Mr Burrett

Everyone tucked into a hearty breakfast this morning with endless supplies of cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt and porridge cooked by Mrs Everton. We all slept well and are looking forward to an action-packed day with bush-craft, archery, abseiling, low ropes and more swimming. The weather looks good – chilly, but dry. Perfect for exploring the beautiful woodland at Carroty Wood!

Lunch was a delicious pizza and salad followed by fruit and yoghurt for dessert. Off to enjoy the afternoon sunshine with another round of activities!

A few words from Mrs Allen

The traditional high-volume blast of Frozen’s ‘Let it go’ met those lucky enough to still be asleep at our agreed wake up time this morning. The children then got themselves ready, enjoyed a hearty breakfast, helped wash up (!) and had a little bit of down time exploring the house and visiting each other’s rooms. The peace and tranquillity was broken by the trips first (and much anticipated) Pringle challenge! The champions this time were Yuthushya and Tom, who managed to keep their Pringles intact through rounds of the Hokey Cokey, the floor is lava and head, shoulders, knees and toes!

Today’s activities have included archery, where Harry managed to defuse the ‘bomb’ by hitting gold with his very last arrow, abseiling, where the children have demonstrated just how fearless and supportive they really are, bush-craft and shelter making (not sure how long some of them would survive in the wild!) and BMX riding!

Up next, we are to brave the infamous wetlands known as the low ropes! Muddy pictures, muddy children and even muddier piles of washing are on their way!!
