Celebration Assembly

Last week Jenny Burrett, the Wishford Schools Director of Education, visited us. She was lucky enough to be able to attend one of our Celebration Assemblies. We thought you might like to hear her thoughts on the benefits of celebrating all our children enjoy and achieve.

“The whole school community comes together on a Friday morning to celebrate all that St Faith’s Prep stands for. Energy and enthusiasm abound as the children’s academic success and personal effort are recognised with trophies, certificates and stickers. Resilience, respect, tolerance, perseverance and independence emerge through the top role models from each class that the teachers pick out as ‘Star of the Week.’ From Reception to Year 6, the children burst with pride as their qualities are described and honoured as they step up to sign in the renowned Golden Book.

School prefects take a key role, representing democratic choice and eco responsibility on the stage. With the Friendship Council awarding a weekly ‘Friend of the Week’, it is no wonder that behaviour is exemplary in the school. Budding musicians entertain and inspire. Sports’ Prefects incite players to further competition from last week’s results and the next week’s fixtures. House Prefects fete whole school contribution to the merit total and applaud House Champions. Everyone has their part to play, everyone belongs. The Headmaster wins his golden ball at table-tennis for playing competitively, but sportingly. His charisma and humour run as a thread throughout the assembly, making the children and staff laugh out loud, creating both a great sense of gravitas and fun; he is clearly vital glue in this happy community. There is a lot of success in this assembly, but a lot of real-life learning too through the story telling.

It is wonderful to see all the children making the most of what is on offer at this happy and successful Kent prep school.”
